Man Accused Of Making Graffiti, Including Swastika, In Port Jefferson Station

A Long Island man has been arrested for allegedly making graffiti that included such images as a swastika and other hate messages.

Carol Vario, age 51, undomiciled, was arrested by Suffolk County Police on Wednesday, March 9, for the incident which took place on Friday, March 4 in Port Jefferson Station.

The graffiti was found on a building located at 518 Route 112, police said. 

Similar graffiti on a kiosk near the Greenway Trail was also found on Saturday, March 5, police said. 

After an investigation, Suffolk County Police Hate Crimes Unit detectives arrested Vario who was charged with two counts of aggravated harassment and two counts of making graffiti. 

He is scheduled to be arraigned in Central Islip on Tuesday, March 29.
